This weekend we got our first snowfall here in New Jersey. It was a decent amount around 3-4 inches depending on where you were. Usually this early we get a light dusting that only last a few hours but this lasted all day. I wanted the take pictures while the snow was falling but the same day that it snowed I had a wedding to go to. It was an all-day event and I spent the whole day running around. But that is my luck with these things, the day of the first snowfall of the season is the same day I have a major event to go to. “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I would have no luck at all.” And for some reason, inconvenience follows me around like a lost puppy. Oh well! At least I the bride and groom got some amazing photographs and I did have fun that day.
The other issue I’ve been having the past two weeks is when I do go out to photograph there has been no light. As the days get shorter, sunlight seems hard to come by. For some reason, the sun just wants to hide behind clouds every day. I can’t wait for the sun to come back. It makes nature look more colorful.
When the weather got colder this year, I wanted to wear this vintage Torrid coat one last time. You see I’ve had this purple, plaid coat for about nine years going on ten. It’s been the only coat I’ve had for almost a decade. I love it so much, I still do. But sometimes we have to let clothing go and move on. Make room for something and try something new. Get out of your comfort zone and find something else to fall in love with.
To say goodbye to the coat I wanted to style it the way I normally did. Shirt, jeans, and some boots. I usually wear some kind of boots when it snows or is wet outside because I do not like my feet wet or even slightly cold. Sometimes I wear Uggs, I know they are not fashion forward and are looked down in the fashion industry but they are the only thing that keeps my feet warm when I am outside in the cold weather.
I’ve had the coat for so long, over the years my mom has made me a matching hat and scarf. I don’t care that they are matchy-matchy or even crochet, to me anything that is made with love is always in style. I even found matching gloves to go with the coat too. To tie everything together on this day I added leggings underneath my ripped jeans. When it gets cold I will wear legging underneath things to keep warm and also to add a pop of color or spice up something that is basic.
Since this the last time I am wearing this coat, it still has some good years ahead of it. I do not want to throw it away, it still is stylish. Plus there are so many people out there in need of a coat. Even though it is purple, it pretty much goes with anything. I mean I wore it for years with all of my outfits. And it is short so it great when you just need something on your upper body and if you don’t like coats constricting your legs. I am thinking about either selling it or donating it, what do you think? Please comment below.
Love you all,
